About Me

My name is Mary-Esther Wiggin.

I hold a professional Level 4 Qualification in Hypnotherapy as recognized by the Qualifications and Credit Framework. This has enabled me to acquire a Full Practitioner Membership with the SHTC (Society for Holistic Therapists and Coaches)

I continue to study everyday and strive to keep my knowledge relevant and up to date.

I feel I chose hypnotherapy not only because I find the subject itself highly fascinating, but also because I have always had a strong desire to help others.

In the 3 years I have held my qualification and practiced hypnotherapy I have seen clear evidence that hypnotherapy is a relatively quick and highly effective aid in self improvement and progression. 

Hypnotherapy provides vast and almost unending possibilities for positive change, and for this reason I have no doubt in my mind that Hypnotherapy can help anyone who truly desires change in their lives.

ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY

So, what is Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy and what does it actually involve? 
Many people believe that to be in a hypnotic state you must first be put into a deep sleep...unaware of whats actually happening. This is however simply not the case. In fact we all will enter a hypnotic state of varying degrees throughout our regular day. Whether it be while driving a well known route, reading a good book and even texting, these are obviously very light trances and the trance used in a therapy situation will be far deeper in order to allow us to communicate adequately with the subconscious by effectively bypassing the conscious.

Being in a hypnotic state simply means that your focus is directed towards one specific thing. Hypnotherapy will make use of our minds ability to cut out that which we need not pay attention to to in order to allow ourselves to concentrate on that which we chose to...in the case of hypnotherapy it will be the therapist and the therapy process.

Hypnotherapy is in simple terms the practice of promoting healing or positive development. 
When in a hypnotic state or trance the therapist is able to suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to the patient, the seeds of which become firmly planted. Please understand first that no Hypnotist is able to plant a belief that goes against the subjects own beliefs, you would have full control over what goes in and what does not. That being said therapy works best when you trust in your therapist and in the process.

Hypnotherapy aims to re-programme patterns of behavior within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome. As the body is released from conscious control during the relaxed trance-like state of hypnosis, breathing becomes slower and deeper, the pulse rate drops and the metabolic rate falls. Similar changes along nervous pathways and hormonal channels enable the sensation of pain to become less acute, and the awareness of unpleasant symptoms, such as nausea or indigestion, to be alleviated.
So all in all Hypnosis can be a very relaxing and incredibly effective form of therapy.

Some will notice feelings of "butterflies" in thier stomaches or even feelings of physical sickness, dizziness and disorientation. Often people suffering anxiety will seem irritable or even angry at times.
Hypnotherapy aims to help one to find focus and relax their minds enabling them to think much more clearly with a calm relaxed thought process rather than being clouded with panic and/or fear.

Depression can feel incredibly isolating and lonely at times, and sometimes even debilitating. Its not as easy as simply snapping out of it as you would a bad mood. However by relaxing and focusing the mind we are able to work together to change the way that you think, installing positive suggestions and helpful ideas that can help greatly in aiding the relief of depression by lifting ones mood and increasing relaxation.

Many situations or external stimuli can install fear or panic in ones self. In fear management hypnotherapy I first use a disassociation technique to help the client to take themselves out of a frightening situation allowing them to look at it from a different point of view enabling them to work on managing their fear in a safe and controlled environment.  Following sessions (if needed)  will involve guiding the client through the process with a relaxed and confident mindset.
